ITANAGAR, Jul 11: Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra was briefed about the challenges and problems of the people of Vijoynagar administrative circle in Changlang district.
The briefing was made by Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Urban Development Minister Kamlung Mosang, who called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar today and discussed about the welfare of the people of Vijoynagar circle, the remote easternmost part of the State that comes under 50 Miao (ST) Assembly Constituency, represented by Mosang.
While expressing his concern about the wellbeing of the people of the remote Vijoynagar area, the Governor advised the Minister to ensure that basic commodity such as ration items are made available to them. He told the Minister while asserting that the key to the solution of the problems faced by the people living in remote areas is to provide them with road connectivity.
The Governor said that Vijoynagar remains cut-off all through the year and extremely inaccessible during rainy season. He asked the Minister to reactivate the work on Miao-Vijoynagar road at the earliest and said that he would like to chair a meeting on this issue on 15th July next at his office.
The Governor also advised the Minister to take necessary measures so that the benefits of developmental initiatives of the State Government reach the remotest corner of his constituency and the State.
Congratulating the State Government for its stand on textbook distribution, the Governor asked the Minister to ensure that textbooks and school uniforms reach the deserving students.
During the meeting, the Governor also spoke to Changlang Deputy Commissioner R K Sharma and Border Road Organization Chief Engineer of Project Udayak, Jitendra Prasad about the alternative road alignment construction to Vijoynagar.
He asked the CE (BRO) to expedite the process to bring development in the area, said an official press note.
