MLA Topin Ete distributes barbed wire & fencing materials to pineapple farmers

Aalo, Aug 28: Aalo West MLA Topin Ete today attended the launching and distribution ceremony of barbed wire and fencing materials at Higi Bagra, West Siang district. On the occasion, he formally distributed the materials to pineapple farmers after completing all necessary formalities.

Addressing the gathering, Ete encouraged farmers to expand pineapple cultivation, noting that Bagra and nearby villages are already renowned for producing high-quality pineapples. Their popularity, he said, has further grown since the successful organization of the Arunachal Pineapple Festival at Bagra.

The MLA lauded the efforts of the All Bagra Welfare Society (ABWS) for promoting horticulture and supporting local farmers. He also recalled that last year Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein had declared the Pineapple Festival a calendar event, granting it state-level recognition.

Highlighting future plans, Ete informed that he is working towards reviving the Nigmoi Fruit Processing Unit to benefit horticulture farmers in the region. He urged pineapple cultivators to strive towards making Arunachal Pradesh one of the leading producers of pineapples in the country.

District Horticulture Officer Yomli Jini explained that the main objective of the Govt scheme is to provide barbed wire and fencing materials to existing pineapple farmers, thereby uplifting their livelihoods.

In-charge DC Mabi Taipodia Jini appreciated former DC Mamu Hage for her special interest in the project. She described it as a classic example of community development, with active participation from all sections of society.

Circle Officer Jumi Ete, and ABWS president Dumar Bagra also spoke on the occasion. The programme was organized by the All Bagra Welfare Society in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture, West Siang. (DIPRO)
