CM reviews preparations ahead of PM Modi’s visit

Itanagar, Sep 19: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday visited IG Park, Itanagar, to oversee the ongoing preparations for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Expressing gratitude for the Prime Minister’s consistent focus on the frontier state, Khandu said Arunachal Pradesh has never before witnessed such sustained attention from a Prime Minister, reflecting his genuine care for the aspirations and development of the people.

The Chief Minister said the state eagerly looks forward to welcoming PM Modi, who is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation for several key projects during his visit. “These initiatives will bring transformative changes across every corner of Arunachal Pradesh,” he remarked.

Elaborate arrangements are underway in the state capital ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit on September 22. Security has been significantly strengthened, while preparations such as road beautification and stage construction are progressing at a rapid pace.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the ambitious 1,830-km Frontier Highway project, which will run parallel to the McMahon Line, connecting Bomdila in West Kameng district to Vijaynagar in Changlang district.

He will also lay the foundation stones for two major hydroelectric projects on the Yarjep river — the 186-MW Tato-I project and the 240-MW Heo project. In addition, PM Modi will launch the second phase of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) from IG Park. Under this phase, 122 border villages will benefit from all-weather roads, 4G telecom connectivity, television services, and on-grid electrification, marking another step toward inclusive development in remote areas.
