Hindi Saptah concludes at JNC

PASIGHAT, Sep 19: Hindi Saptah (Hindi Week), organized by the Department of Hindi, Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, concluded at the college premises here today.

The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by JNC Principal Dr Tasi Taloh. The students of MA 3rd semester then presented the State song ‘Arunachal Hamara’.

Throughout the week, the Hindi Department organized various competitions, including essay writing, on-spot poetry writing, and extempore speech. The winners were felicitated during the closing ceremony.

In the extempore speech contest, Tilung Borang secured first spot, while Yayok Nyitan stood second. In the essay writing competition, Tarh Tabang and Lomti Lego won the first and second prizes respectively. The poetry writing competition was won by Kensum Ete, while Ilma Muskan got the second position.

Dr S K Sinha, HoD English, elaborated on the global status of Hindi and spoke about World Hindi Day, which has been observed since 2006. He highlighted the pride and brotherhood associated with the language, quoting verses of renowned Hindi poet Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh.

Dr K K Mishra, HoD Geography, recited a beautiful Hindi poem on the occasion.

Dr D P Panda, IQAC Coordinator and HoD Commerce, the chief guest traced the roots of Hindi to Sanskrit and encouraged students to use Hindi in daily life.

Dr Leki Sitang, Vice Principal JNC, underlined the importance of language in expressing human emotions and emphasized how the Arunachali form of Hindi plays a crucial role in connecting different tribes of the State.

In his concluding speech, Dr Taloh appreciated the Hindi Dept for successfully organizing the celebration and encouraged students to embrace Hindi with pride. The event also featured various cultural performances by the students of the Hindi Dept.

HoD Hindi Dr H N Pandey also spoke.
