She was remembered as a woman of dignity, courage, and compassion, who almost single-handedly raised her children along with many extended family members. She passed away leaving behind a legacy of resilience, love, and service.

The State’s media fraternity and the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) have expressed profound grief over the demise of Gamde Ete Gamlin, the revered matriarch of the Gamlin family.
The Arunachal Press Club (APC) and Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) described her as “a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, a loving and caring mother, and a disciplinarian whose wisdom and resilience inspired many.” They said her demise had created “a void not only in her family but also among all who drew strength from her.”
The Arunachal Publishers and Broadcasters Guild (APBG) also paid homage, noting that she was “a source of strength, guidance, and inspiration” and that her legacy would remain cherished forever.
The APWWS, in a condolence message to her daughter, former president Jarjum Ete, said the Society was indebted to Gamde Ete Gamlin for raising children who went on to serve society with dedication. “Her nurturing spirit and values live on through her children’s selfless service to society. Her presence will be deeply missed, and the void left by her passing can never be filled,” APWWS president Kani Nada Maling said.
Prayers were offered for the eternal peace of her soul and strength to the bereaved family in this moment of grief.
The passing of Gamde Ete Gamlin marks the end of an era for the Gamlin family, whose contributions to the state’s political, social, and defence spheres remain significant.
