SEC holds coordination meeting ahead of local body polls

Itanagar, Nov 4: The State Election Commission (SEC), Arunachal Pradesh, on Tuesday convened a state-level coordination meeting with senior government officials to review the preparations for the upcoming elections to the Panchayat and Municipal bodies across the state.

The meeting, chaired by State Election Commissioner Rinchin Tashi was attended by Chief Secretary in-charge Kaling Tayeng, and Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Chukhu Apa, representing the Director General of Police.

During the meeting, the State Election Commissioner briefed participants on key issues related to the free, fair, and peaceful conduct of the upcoming local body elections, including those for the Itanagar Municipal Corporation and Pasighat Municipal Council.

Tashi emphasized the need for enhanced security measures in the Tirap, Changlang, and Longding (TCL) region, citing its sensitivity during the election period. He urged the authorities to ensure the deployment of adequate security forces to prevent any disruption to the poll process.

After detailed deliberations, the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) assured the Commission of full support and cooperation in terms of manpower, financial assistance, and security arrangements required for the smooth conduct of the local bodies elections 2025.

The SEC reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the elections are conducted in a transparent, peaceful, and democratic manner across Arunachal Pradesh.
