Itanagar, Nov 4: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday handed over land compensation cheques worth Rs 26.31 crore to 300 beneficiaries from Lhou and Shyaro villages under Mukto Assembly Constituency during his visit to Lhou circle in Tawang district.
The compensation was disbursed to landowners affected by the Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) Road project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing road connectivity and socio-economic growth in the border region.
Expressing gratitude to the district administration for its swift action, Khandu said, “My sincere thanks to ADC Jang for expediting the land acquisition process for the BCT–Balipara–Charduar–Tawang Road, enabling smoother implementation of this vital infrastructure project.”
He emphasized that the BCT Road is a strategic and developmental lifeline that will not only boost local mobility but also strengthen border area connectivity, tourism, and economic activities in the region.
During his visit, the Chief Minister also inspected several ongoing development projects in Lhou area to review progress and ensure timely completion with adherence to quality standards.
Among the key projects visited was the construction site of a 40-bedded boys’ hostel at the Government Higher Secondary School, Lhou. The 20-bedded girls’ hostel at the same institution has already been completed and made functional.
Khandu interacted with PWD officials and local authorities at the site, directing them to maintain construction quality and expedite completion to benefit students at the earliest.
