Pasighat, Nov 4: The Adi Bane Kebang Youth Wing (ABKYW) has voiced deep concern over the alleged case of molestation and sexual assault involving students at Sanggo English Medium School in Mebo, urging the state government to take urgent and decisive action.
During a press briefing here on Monday, ABKYW president Oki Dai condemned the incident and outlined a series of demands made by the parents of the victims, calling for justice, institutional accountability, and stronger child protection measures in educational institutions.
Dai listed the following key points for immediate consideration by the authorities: Immediate transfer of students from Sanggo English Medium School to other institutions across the region; full refund of fees paid by parents for the 2025–2026 academic session, capital punishment for the accused if found guilty, consensual marks for affected students transferred to other schools to avoid academic disruption.
ABKYW also urged immediate constitution of a medical team to provide psychological counseling and trauma support to the victims, the government to bear all medical expenses of the affected students currently undergoing treatment, establishment of a dedicated court and assurance of a fair, transparent investigation, and formation of a committee to conduct inspections of schools across the region to ensure safety and compliance with child protection standards.
He further urged the Government to revise and strengthen the existing school safety guidelines framed in 2012, stressing the need for periodic reviews, monitoring mechanisms, and stricter enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.
The ABKYW has assured continued support to the victims’ families and reiterated its commitment to ensuring that justice is delivered swiftly and that educational institutions remain safe spaces for all children.
