Itanagar, Dec 14: The Banderdewa Police has arrested three persons, including a habitual offender, and seized suspected heroin during a late-night raid at Dolikoto area under Banderdewa Police Station on Saturday, a senior officer said on Sunday.
Naharlagun SP Dr Nyelam Nega said that acting on reliable inputs about drug peddling activities in the area, a police team led by Inspector Kipa Hamak, Officer-in-Charge of Banderdewa Police Station, along with an Anti-Drug Squad, conducted a raid near the Mega Food Park at Dolikoto at around 10:30 pm. During the operation, the prime accused, Raj Pegu (42), was apprehended along with two accomplices, Seniram Das (30) and Beauty Das (25).
A search of the accused led to the recovery of 22 vials containing an orangish-coloured powder suspected to be heroin, weighing a total of 28.28 grams.
Following the seizure, a case has been registered at Banderdewa Police Station vide Case No. 85/25 under Sections 21(b), 27A and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Police said that Raj Pegu is a habitual offender and has been previously involved in multiple cases. Further investigation is underway.
