Itanagar, Jan 16: The Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union Federation (APTUF) has decided to proceed with its democratic movement against what it termed as continued inaction by the State Government in addressing its long-pending demands.
In a reminder letter submitted to the Chief Secretary, the Federation announced a phased programme of agitation. As per the schedule, a peaceful dharna will be held across the State on February 18 and 19 as the first phase. This will be followed by a rally on March 18 in the second phase and a hunger strike on March 19 and 20 as the third phase.
The APTUF has been demanding enhancement of grade pay for work-charged (W/C) employees, including W/C computer operators, from Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,400. Other key demands include the creation of a one-time W/C post in every engineering department, regularisation of services of contingency and casual workers who have completed 15 years of service, and enforcement of a one-day annual break for workers without wage deduction.
Regarding its demand for implementation of the Golden Handshake scheme, the Federation urged the government to either disburse compensation to the beneficiaries by February 14 or provide appointment to a dependent of the retired worker.
