Inter-state coordination meeting held at Banderdewa ahead of Assam polls

Itanagar, Feb 17: The District Administration of the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) on Monday convened a joint coordination meeting at the Office of the Circle Officer, Banderdewa, along the Arunachal Pradesh-Assam border in view of the forthcoming Assembly elections in neighbouring Assam.

The meeting was chaired by the ICR Deputy Commissioner Toko Babu and focused on strengthening inter-state coordination and ensuring effective monitoring along the inter-state boundary during the election period.

Key issues discussed included inter-state liquor movement and strict monitoring during the Model Code of Conduct period, cooperation on law and order, checking and verification of arms licences, and enhanced coordination between the administration and police of both states. The house also resolved to designate single-point contacts and nodal officers to facilitate seamless communication and quick response.

The meeting was attended by the Superintendents of Police of Itanagar and Naharlagun, along with the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, SSP Lakhimpur, ADC Lakhimpur, and the Circle Officers of Lakhimpur and Banderdewa. Officials from the Excise and Transport departments and other concerned agencies were also present.

The deliberations emphasised close cooperation between the district administrations and police authorities of both sides to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of the elections.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the chair.
