ITANAGAR, Feb 17: The Koloriang, Damin, Parsi-Parlo and Sarli Students’ Union (KDPSSU) has alleged large-scale corruption in the construction of a double-storeyed boys’ hostel at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Koloriang and demanded strict action against officials involved in the purported fraud.
Addressing reporters at the Arunachal Press Club here on Tuesday, KDPSSU general secretary Bamang Tabik claimed that Rs 1 crore sanctioned for the construction of the hostel was withdrawn in spite of no visible building structure at the site.
“After receiving complaints from the school authority and the school management committee, we visited the site and conducted an inquiry. We noticed that although funds were sanctioned for the project, there is zero visible structure at the construction site,” he claimed.
He further stated that the entire sanctioned amount appears to have been misused without any tangible progress in the construction work, causing serious concern among the public, students, and well-wishers of the district.
In this connection, the union has submitted a representation to the Deputy Commissioner of Kurung Kumey district, seeking strict action against the officials allegedly involved in the matter. The union also urged the DC to issue necessary directions to ensure that construction work begins within one month from the date of submission of the representation.
