DA rescues mentally distressed man in Daporijo

Daporijo, Feb 17: In a heartening humanitarian initiative, the Upper Subansiri District Administration (DA) successfully rescued a mentally distressed and injured person who had been lying immobile in an open area of Daporijo town for the past several months.

The rescued individual, identified as Tayu Mosu, son of late Tapa Mosu of Sarta village, was evacuated with prior permission and coordination with his family members.

The rescue operation was carried out with the dedicated support of Deepak Nabam Living Home. Its chairman Deepak Nabam, along with his team, travelled from Itanagar to Daporijo to ensure the safe evacuation and rehabilitation of the distressed person. He has since been shifted to the shelter home in Itanagar for proper medical care, treatment, and accommodation.

Speaking during the evacuation, Deepak Nabam said the humane mission was made possible due to the proactive initiative of the district administration under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Tasso Gambo and the close supervision of Town Magistrate Ama Nungnu Mara. He stated that their timely intervention ensured the distressed individual received dignity, care, and relief, and described the initiative as an example of compassion-driven governance.

DC Tasso Gambo lauded the humanitarian efforts of Deepak Nabam Living Home Society and personally witnessed the evacuation process. The district administration also extended necessary financial assistance to facilitate immediate medical attention, transportation, and other logistical requirements during the rescue and rehabilitation process.

Family members of the rescued person were present during the operation. The successful rescue underscores the administration’s commitment to humanitarian values and social responsibility. It conveys a strong message that no individual in distress is alone and that collective compassion can restore dignity and hope to the most vulnerable sections of society.
