Papum Pare DC asks DDSE to appoint a nodal teacher in every school to facilitate HPV vaccination-related activities

YUPIA, Sep 30: Aimed at assessing the progress of Routine Immunisation (RI), HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination, the Midterm RI micro plan review, preparedness for the six-day MR Mop-Up Campaign scheduled from October 12–17 and the implementation of the U-Mentor programme in Papum Pare district, a District Task Force for Immunisation (DTFI) Review-cum-U-Mentor Workshop was held with Deputy Commissioner Mamu Hage in the chair.

Addressing the gathering, the DC appreciated the dedication and performance of the healthcare workers. She encouraged the health team to maintain the same commitment and directed all concerned officers and staff to take note of the deliberations and ensure timely action and implementation of the decisions taken during the review meeting.

The DC further directed the Papum Pare DDSE to appoint a nodal teacher in every government and private school to facilitate HPV vaccination-related activities. She emphasised the need to conduct Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) in schools to sensitise eligible children and their parents about the importance, and availability of the HPV vaccine and to address any concerns regarding vaccination.

Papum Pare DMO Dr R Rina Ronya emphasised the importance of quality healthcare delivery, teamwork, regular monitoring and continuous improvement of health services. She urged all stakeholders to work collectively towards improving immunisation coverage and achieving the district’s health targets.

During the meeting, Dr Tomar Kamki, DRCHO Papum Pare, presented the Routine Immunisation performance for April–August 2026. He reviewed the annualised targets, highlighted key achievements and identified gaps requiring focused attention. He directed all Medical Officers-in-Charge (MO i/c) to closely monitor facility-wise performance and ensure adherence to the annualised immunisation targets within the stipulated period.

Dr. Rakesh Upadhyay, RRT, WHO, made a detailed presentation on the Midterm RI micro plan review of Papum Pare district and provided technical suggestions for strengthening microplanning, monitoring, beneficiary tracking and effective implementation of immunisation activities at the field level.

Dr Tokar Nyodu, MO (RI), presented the preparedness plan for the six-day MR Mop-Up Campaign, highlighting its pivotal role in strengthening measles-rubella elimination efforts. He emphasised the importance of effective microplanning, mobilisation, intersectoral coordination and ensuring that all eligible children are reached during the campaign.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from the Health Department and all stakeholders to further strengthen Routine Immunisation, HPV vaccination, measles-rubella elimination activities and overall service delivery, with the objective of achieving the health targets of Papum pare district.
