Aalo bandh passes off peacefully

ITANAGAR, Nov 7: The 12-hour Aalo bandh called by the Aalo Area Students’ Union (AASU) on Thursday from 5 am to 5 pm has passed off peacefully without any untoward incident.

All vehicles were off the road and business establishments remain closed during the bandh period. However, all Govt offices functioned normally.

The dawn-to-dusk bandh call was given by AASU in protest against authorities’ alleged failure to address the deficiencies in services in designated General Hospital, Aalo. The students’ body has been insisting for immediate posting of medicine specialist, surgeon, child specialist, pathologist, radiologist, four medical officers and other supporting staff.

Despite being declared ‘illegal’ by the district administration, the student body went ahead with the proposed bandh call. The district administration and the police beefed up the security to contain any unlawful activities. (With DIPRO inputs)
