Rise to the occasion without fear to serve the people: Guv to MLA

ITANAGAR, Nov 7: Newly elected Khonsa West MLA Chakat Aboh called on Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra at Raj Bhavan here today. “It was a courtesy call,” said a communique from the Governor’s Secretariat here.

It said, the Governor congratulated Aboh on being elected from Khonsa West Assembly Constituency in recently held bye-election to the said seat (that was necessitated following assassination of her legislator husband Tirong Aboh in May this year by suspected NSCN militants) as an Independent candidate.

Mishra advised her to “rise to the occasion without fear or apprehension” to serve the people of her constituency that falls under insurgency-infested Tirap district.

He also assured her that State Government will do all that is necessary to revive the confidence and faith in the State machinery amongst the people of her area.

The Governor wished Aboh all the best in her endeavour to bring development and peace in her constituency, the communiqué added.

The former Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh, who contesting the 2019 Assembly polls on a NPP ticket had won the seat, along with his son and nine others was shot dead by suspected Naga rebels near Bogapani village in Tirap district on May 21, two days ahead of polls results.
