SVEEP program at Namsai benefits scores

NAMSAI, Jan 11: A large number of common people benefited from the day-long Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme organized here at Namsai Town Club on Friday by the District Election Officer, Namsai.

DEO Dr Tapasya Raghav, in her keynote address, said as per directives of the Election Commission of India all the BLOs are to ensure to organize SVEEP camp for people with disabilities (PwDs) in such location where they can easily approach and get themselves acquainted with all the election process including effective use of EVM (electronic voting machine) and VVPATs (voter verifiable paper audit trail).

Emphasizing on greater participation and ethical voting, the DEO appealed to the GBs to organize Gram Chopal and Gram Sabha in every village to generate awareness among the villagers and encourage them to exercise franchise and for which all logistic support will be provided from district HQs.

She also said that no voters shall be left behind and appealed all to vote in forthcoming election for strengthening the democracy. She added, all arrangements will be made to ensure free and fair election in the district.

Welcoming the newly enrolled electors of 18-19 years age group, the DEO said youth are the main resource of our country and their participation in democratic process is vital.

SVEEP Song, Nukkar Natak displayed by the students from GHSS, Lathao and Namsai enthralled the audience. Earlier, welcoming the gathering, ADC cum ERO (HQ) Bijoy Talukdar said SVEEP is an important part of election process to create mass awareness among the electors through all possible means of communication. Newton’s movie, PPT and hands on of EVM/VVPAT also displayed during the programme. All BLOs, BLAs, members of Electoral Literacy Club, Campus Ambassadors, GBs, public leaders, HoDs, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, students and teachers from various schools of the district participated in the programme.
