ITANAGAR, Jan 11: On day 3 of Khelo India Youth Games 2018-19 at Pune in Maharashtra today, Arunachal Pradesh has added just one medal to its tally of seven with the silver coming in weightlifting discipline.
The State’s medal tally of eight includes four each of silver and bronze.
The only medal (silver) of the day came through lifter Anai Wangsu, while participating in U-17 girls 55 Kg. She lifted 60 Kg in Snatch 60 and 81Kg in Clean & Jerk with a total of 141 Kg.
Other lifters Posen Kongkang (U-17 girls 59 Kg) secured 6th position and P Sakhenbi Devi (U-21 girls 59 Kg) bagged 5th place.
In judo, Silom Tesia (U-17 girls 52 Kg) lost to her Manipur opponent in 1st round.
In badminton, Laa Takum (U-17 boys) entered semifinals by beating Manav Choudhury of Haryana in straight sets 21-10, 21-4. He will be up against Gandham Pranav Rao of Telangana and the match will be played tomorrow at 1300 hrs.
The State failed to yield good results in athletics as U-17 girl Achick Wangsa finished 10th in shot put (3Kg) while U-17 boy Nabam Deram, in 400m, exited in heat.
