DMO terms WhatsApp circulation on a Corona positive false

Stern action on spreading wrong message: DC

PASIGHAT, Mar 25: District Medical Officer Dr Kaling Dai has discarded the hearsay in social media about a person who had comeback from outside the State being a Corona positive.

Reacting to a rumour being circulated in various WhatsApp groups stating that one AkashSharma of Pasighat Bazar, who had returned from Chennai, is alleged to be COVID-19 positive, the DMO said that the fact has been verified by the District Surveillance Officer, which is found to be absolutely false and baseless.

In our standard operating procedure, Dr Dai informed that all those who return from infected states are put to home quarantine for at least 14 days, wherein the person quarantined is advised to maintain social distancing from rest of the family members and get confined to his household.

They are also advised to report to the nearest health facility in case of development of symptoms like fever, cough and breathing difficulty. Every household that is quarantined will be pasted with a notice that the home is being quarantined and unwanted visit to the house is restricted, he added.

While clarifying on ‘strict isolation’, the DMO said that all home quarantines who have returned from infected states are not COVID-19 patients and they are enlisted as suspect, since they have returned from infected states.

Therefore, the public are hereby informed that pasting of quarantine notice should not be taken as COVID-19 positive patient and they are also appealed to restrict movement of home quarantine person in their locality.

Any quarantined person if seen mixing in public or found loitering out of quarantine house the case may be informed to the District Control Room at 8794837994 or at 0368-2222253 for legal action, said the DMO.
