Khandu thanks PM for mentioning Mirem village in 'Mann Ki Baat'


ITANAGAR, Jun 29: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for mentioning Mirem village of East Siang district in his 'Mann Ki Baat' programme.
In his monthly radio programme, the PM mentioned about the Mirem village where villagers came together in the fight against COVID-19 and erected temporary huts to quarantine its people returning from outside the state.
“Tuned into Mann Ki Baat along with village heads and officers today at Tawang. Thank you PM Narendra Modi ji for mentioning the success story of fight against COVID-19 by entire community of Mirem village of East Siang district,” Khandu wrote in a social media post on Sunday.
Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao in a tweet wrote, “My gratitude to Modiji for recognizing this initiative & appreciation to COVID-19 executive members & people of Mirem village for this initiative.”
It is proud and honoured that the efforts of the villagers of Mirem village has been acknowledged and appreciated by the PM, the East Siang district administration said in a tweet.
According to a release issued by DIPRO East Siang earlier this month, under the supervision of the village secretary Obang Mize, villagers constructed isolated 10 quarantine huts along with toilets on self-help basis. Each family of the village provided one bamboo and ten Toko leaves for construction, it said. (UNI)
