Highest single day spike in COVID-19 cases

State records 107 new cases, 91 recoveries

ITANAGAR, Jul 31: The unabated surge in COVID-19 cases in the State continues as it registered the highest single day spike of 107 cases on Friday, taking its tally of confirmed cases to 1591, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services here late this evening.

On a brighter side, the State also saw release of 91 positive cases following their recovery from the virus, raising the total number of discharged cases to 918 – considerably surging past its active cases (670). Three people have already died of the dreaded disease.

Out of the 105 new positive cases, 38 cases were confirmed in Changlang, 22 detected in Itanagar Capital Complex, 14 reported from East Siang, 12 from East Kameng and 11 from Namsai. Four cases were registered in Longding, while Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley, Lower Siang, Tirap, Papum Pare and West Kameng recorded one case each.

Among the 38 cases detected in Changlang, 37 are Central Para-Military Forces (CPMF) personnel and one case was detected from Bordumsa by RDT-Ag test.

Of the 14 East Siang cases, ‘2’ are returnees from Jammu & Kashmir, ’2’ are truck drivers, ‘3’ are HCW, ‘1’ is SBI staff, ‘1’ detected from Super specialty Clinics Pasighat, ’1’ is primary contact of positive case detected earlier, ’4’ were detected from Pasighat tested by RDT-Ag test.

While all the 12 East Kameng cases detected from Seppa town are all primary contacts of positive case detected earlier, nine out of 11 cases in Namsai are primary contacts of positive case detected earlier, ‘1’ is employee of Election Office, Namsai and ’1’ is CPMF personnel.

All four Longding cases are returnees from Assam, detected in quarantine facility through RDT-Ag tests, while the Lohit district case is a returnee from UP, Lower Dibang Valley one is primary contact of positive case detected earlier, Lower Siang one is a shopkeeper, Tirap case is CPMF personnel detected by RDT-Ag in QF, Papumpare case is CPMF personnel detected by RDT in QF and West Kameng one is a truck driver detected by RDT-Ag at check gate.

Among the Itanagar Capital Complex cases, nine were detected in Naharlagun’s Model Village, A-Sector, C-Sector and F-Sector, four cases in E-Sector, Qtr Line and Upper Police Colony, Naharlagun, and two cases each in TRIHMS and Banderdewa check gate.  

As per the bulletin, 104 cases were found to be asymptomatic and three symptomatic. Out of the 91 discharged cases, Itanagar Capital Complex accounted for 47, followed by Papum Pare 33 and Tirap eight. Upper Siang, Longding and Lower Siang witnessed the release of one recovered case each.
