83 new Covid cases take State count to 1673

ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Continuing its spurt in Covid-19 infections, the State on Saturday recorded a total of 83 fresh positive cases and also saw a recovery/discharge of 51 cases, taking its tally of confirmed cases to 1673, which included 701 active and 969 discharged cases along with three casualties, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) here late this evening.

Of the 83 new cases detected in the last 24 hours in 12 districts, 38 cases came from Itanagar Capital Complex (ICC) while 10 cases were reported from East Siang, eight in Tirap and seven detected in West Kameng. Lower & Upper Siang registered four cases each, while three cases each were detected in Tawang and Lower Subansiri. Namsai and Shi-Yomi registered two cases each, whereas one case each was found in Changlang and Longding.

Of the 10 positive cases in East Siang, ‘7’ are HCWs, ‘2’ are truck driver and handyman detected at check gate, and ‘1’ is a returnee from Namsai district tested by RDT-Ag.

In the Tirap cases, ‘6’ are CPMF personnel, ‘1’ is a bakery man and ‘1’ truck driver tested by RDT-Ag. The West Kameng cases are all truck drivers detected by RDT-Ag tests at check gate.

Of four Lower Siang cases, ‘3’ are shopkeepers and ‘1’ is CPMF personnel tested by RDT-Ag while in Upper Siang, all are CPMF personnel, who are returnees from Assam detected by RDT-Ag test in QF (quarantine facility).

In Tawang cases, ‘1’ is a returnee from Itanagar, ‘1’ is primary contact of positive case detected earlier and ‘1’ is a CPMF personnel tested by RDT-Ag while in Lower Subansiri, ‘2’ are CPMF personnel and ‘1’ is a returnee from Longding district tested by RDT-Ag.

Of Namsai cases, 1’ is a businessman detected at check gate and ‘1’ is a primary contact of positive case detected earlier, tested by RDT-Ag whereas in Shi-Yomi, both cases are returnees from Assam and detected by RDT-Ag in QF.

The Changlang case was detected from Kharsang, who was tested by RDT-Ag while the Londing case is a returnee from Assam and detected by RDT-Ag test in QF.

Of the 38 cases recorded in ICC, five came from two areas of Itanagar and 32 cases were reported from various locations of Naharlagun including one from TRIHMS and one from Banderdewa check gate, as per the bulletin.

Of the 83 cases, 79 are asymptomatic and four are symptomatic.

On a note of respite, a total number of 51 patients were released today following their recovery, stated the bulletin. It included 26 from ICC, 11 from West Siang, seven from East Siang, five from Papum Pare, and one each from Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) and Tirap.

Meanwhile, the Health department has come up with a corrigendum saying in yesterday’s report the positive case of Covid-19 in LDV was 8, which was wrongly shown as 9 positive.
