104 more inflicted penalty for violating COVID protocols


ITANAGAR, Sep 15: Continuing with its effort to lessen the impact of novel Coronavirus, the Itanagar Capital Region district administration today imposed a penalty of Rs 500 each on 104 individuals for not adhering to the COVID-19 protection protocols.
In this regard, ICR Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom informed that a total of 104 persons were fined today with Rs 500 each for not wearing masks during the checking drive conducted by EAC Itanagar Neelam Teji at Itanagar area and OC Naharlagun PS K Yangfo at Naharlagun area.
One person was also charged Rs 200 for spitting in public.
The current COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) prescribes imposition of fine of Rs 500 for not wearing masks and Rs 200 for spitting in public. The DC while stressing on the same has urged the denizens to follow the SOPs and also sought their cooperation in preventing the further spread of the virus.
Considering the sudden spurt in Covid-19 positive cases in the last few days, entry of labourers has been temporarily suspended in the Capital Region for a period of two weeks wef 16/09/2020 to 29/09/2020, the DC told the media persons today.
As per report of the District Medical Officer, 637 positive cases have been reported wef 1st September to 13th September of which maximum cases were detected from labourers coming from outside the State. However, labourers of Central/State Govt projects and for special and emergent projects are being exempted, he added.
Further, the DC informed that the celebration of Vishwakarma Puja on 17th September next has been permitted in a low key manner maintaining all the SOPs and confining only to individual level. He added that there would not be any procession or immersion of idol in the rivers/streams during the celebration this time.
