Capital DC orders Vishwakarma Puja be celebrated in a low profile manner


ITANAGAR, Sep 15: The Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Region today said that the Vishwakarma Puja celebration which is scheduled on 17th September shall be permitted to be celebrated in a low profile manner in view of the prevailing situation of COVID-19 pandemic.  
DC Komkar Dulom ordered that the celebration should be confined to individual level only, while stating that not more than 20 persons shall be allowed at a time at Puja pandal during the celebration.
There shall be no procession and immersion of idol in the rivers/streams post Vishwakarma Puja celebration, he said.
The ‘new normal’ mode of celebration should be adopted thereby maintaining all the SoPs of social distancing, mandatory wearing of masks and frequent washing of hands with soap and sanitizer should be adopted.
Any violation of above instructions shall be liable for prosecution under section 188 IPC and various sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The DC said these preventive measures were necessitated following sudden spurt in COVID-19 positive cases in the Itanagar Capital Region in the last fortnight which is a cause of major concern for the public from health safety point of view.
He also mentioned that the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India vide its order No.40-3/2020-DM-I(A) dated 29th August'2020 has not permitted any social, academic, sports, entertainment, cultural, religious, political functions and other congregations till date.
