Nyishi-Apatani Summit anniversary celebration suspended due to pandemic

ITANAGAR, Sep 18: The 5th anniversary celebration of Nyishi-Apatani Summit, which was scheduled on September 20, has been suspended in view of ongoing Covid–19 pandemic situation.

The decision to not celebrate the Nyishi-Apatani Summit (NAS) anniversary was taken during a joint meeting of Nyishi Elite Society (NES) and Taw Supu Duku (TSD) held at NES secretariat, Richi-Jullang here on Sept 15 last.

The Nyishi-Apatani Summit was signed on 20th Sept 2015 between the two communities with historic declaration related to mutual trust and understanding between two sons of Abo Tani - Nyishi and Apatani - under the initiative of NES and TSD.

Regarding construction of Nyishi-Apatani Unity Tower (NAUT), it was decided to have another joint meeting of NES & TSD with the MLAs of Ziro-Hapoli and Yachuli to finalise for immediate construction of the Unity Tower. Further, a joint inspection involving NES, TSD, NAUT Construction Committee and the land donors from both the communities shall be conducted to re-inspect the site in view of earth cutting works carried out on Potin-Pangin highway by the works agency in which the proposed landscape might have been changed, stated a press note here.
