Masked mob burns down a house at Lor Putu

ITANAGAR, Oct 17: The house of one Tame Takiang located at Lor Putu village near the Itanagar Zoo was allegedly burnt down by a mob comprising more than 50 masked men on Friday evening at around 7.40 pm, police said.

Reportedly, the assailants also fired in the air. A case has been registered at Itanagar police station under Sections 147/148/149/481/436 and 506 of Indian Penal Code read with Section 27 of the Arms Act.

Meanwhile, the aggrieved villagers have served a seven days deadline to the Police Department to nab the culprits.

Itanagar SDPO Rike Kamsi informed that as per the preliminary investigation, one Techi Nyajum has been identified as the main ring leader of the incident who happened to have some land dispute with the house owner.

“The investigation is going on. We will try to nab the accused persons as early as possible,” the SDPO added.
