Peacock soft-shell turtle rescued, released in Siang river

PASIGHAT, Oct 26: A peacock soft-shell turtle was rescued by a group of children near APP Colony, Pasighat on Friday which was later released in the Siang river.
Reportedly, Paktu Diyum (17), Messia Panggeng (17), Ribom Diyum (12) and Pakdi Diyum (6) were passing through the APP Colony road for an evening walk and they suddenly spotted the majestic creature of God crawling on the road and rescued it.
They decided to hand it over to the Forest Department to save its life. Later, the young lads along with DFO (T) Tashi Mize released the rescued turtle in the Siang River. The DFO appreciated them for their noble deed, saying we need to save wildlife and if not, there would be nothing left for our future generations to see and experience.
