ABK extends financial aid to flood-hit families of Ego Valley

ITANAGAR, Nov 21: Showing their sympathy to the calamity-hit people, the Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) has handed over a financial aid of Rs 4.50 lakh to the Galo Welfare Society (GWS) on Friday for the flood-affected families of Ego Valley under Dari circle in Leparada district.

The 17th September disaster had left trails of vast devastation in the area wherein two precious lives were lost while many people had been rendered homeless, their business establishments washed away besides causing severe damages to WRC, agri-horti fields.

ABK president Getom Borang said that ABK is indebted to the humanitarian gesture initiated by GWS for providing financial aid on 21st August 2020 to fire victims of Kaying village in Siang district, wherein around 54 houses along with a community hall were reduced to ashes in the fire on 25th March 2020.

He said that as a reciprocal gesture to the help bestowed by GWS, the Adi community has overwhelmingly volunteered to donate for the cause of the flood victims of Ego valley.

GWS president Tanga Kena on behalf of the Galo community and the flood-affected families of Ego valley expressed gratitude to ABK and said the reciprocal humanitarian gesture by ABK would “go a long way in paving more bonhomie between Adi & Galo tribes and further strengthen the age-old brotherly relation between the two major communities of the State”.

The handing & taking programme concluded with positive vibes for better cordial relations between ABK & GWS in the coming days, stated a press note here today.
