State’s school heads undergo customised training programme at IIM, Ahmedabad

ITANAGAR, Feb 10: For the first time, around 118 officers of the Department of Education including principals/headmasters of the Govt higher secondary/secondary schools of Arunachal Pradesh are attending an ambitious customised training programme at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, in two batches - firstly from Feb 4 to 8 and the second from Feb 11 to 15.

On Feb 7, an online discussion platform “Samarth Arunachal” was formally inaugurated by Secretary (Education) Dr Madhu Rani Teotia, from Arunachal Pradesh. While interacting with the heads of schools and officials during the session over phone, the secretary impressed upon them to gather maximum benefit out of this program.

The heads of schools are being exposed to this kind of training for the first time. Topics like, role of the principal, school climate, ensuring success of all students, teaching-learning strategies, partnering with parents, etc, are being covered.

Earlier, three professors from IIM Ahmedabad visited different Hr Sec and Sec schools of the State during Dec 2018 – Jan 2019 in connection with the training programme. The main objectives of the visit were to get the first hand information and feedback from the schools to prepare the training modules catering to the specific training needs of the officers of the department.
