Gao lauds role of church in shaping society

BORDURIA, Feb 10: State BJP president Tapir Gao has lauded the role of church in transforming and moulding the tribal society. He also appreciated the several works undertaken by the church leaders for maintaining peace and tranquility in the state.

“The role of church leaders will always be remembered because they have played a vital role in moulding the society in right direction and now, peace and tranquility is prevailing in state due to emergence of Christianity,” stated Gao.

He was addressing a huge gathering of Christian believers on the occasion of dedication programme of a prayer centre at Pansumthong village under Borduria circle of Tirap district on Sunday.

The BJP president said that our works need to be guided by good people and that’s why we should be God fearing so that any wrong thing is not repeated.

He urged upon the masses to come forward and shoulder the responsibility for the development of the state and the country.

Former Rubber Board chairman Likha Maj, in his address, also urged upon the people of believe in god and remain god fearing so that one can work with dedication and sincerity for the development and welfare of the family and society as well.

He said that the prayer centre dedicated today should be utilised for the betterment of the community, believers and god fearing people. He said that Christianity has greatly influenced the society due to which there has been peace, harmony and economic development in state.

Rev Asenba Imsong, Nocte Baptist Asathem Roapkhhoan (NBAR) president Poro Bangsia and secretary Tarun Thinok also addressed the gathering. BJP secretary Tarh Tarak, public leader Chapung Wangsu, and Hangliam Sumnyan were also present. The dignitaries also took part in a prayer programme at the venue.
