BCT works stalled due to non-finalization of land acquisition estimate

ITANAGAR, Feb 11: The widening work of double lane Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) road spanning 317.95 Km, technically referred as the BCT road corridor, has been reportedly stopped at certain places due to want of finalization of land acquisition estimate.

Currently, Border Roads Organization (BRO) is executing the widening work of the most strategic BCT road, lifeline of West Kameng and Tawang districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

According to the Chief Engineer Project Vartak, the progress of BCT road at certain places are affected for want of finalization of land acquisition proceedings, especially at location between Elephant and Sessa villages between Km 51 to 53 and Km 65 to 66 on BCT road.

Though compensation estimate was earlier given by the State Govt Administration and BRO was ready to make payment, due to certain complaint received on the compensation estimate, revised estimate was asked from DC Bomdila in July last year which has not yet been finalized.

In the meantime, the villagers reportedly stopped the construction activities in the said stretch of road which is affecting the progress on widening of the road.  The Chief Engineer has said that the matter is discussed at higher level of the State Govt to resolve it; however, the revised estimate is yet to be finalized.

Stating that BRO is ready to make the payment immediately on receipt of estimate from DC Bomdila, Chief Engineer appealed the villagers to allow the construction activities in this stretch of road to avoid delay in completion of the project.
