ITANAGAR, May 14: Even as the District Administration had declared their scheduled agitation programme as illegal, the ‘deprived’ voters of Rakso Polling Station under Palin Assembly Constituency in Kra Daadi district on Tuesday attempted to stage dharna in front of Nirvachan Bhawan here but were stopped by the police and para-military forces personnel.

The agitators under the banner of Deprived Voters of 38-Rakso Polling Station have been demanding for another re-polling at Rakso polling station, while claiming that over 150 registered voters were not allowed to cast their votes by the JD(U) supporters when fresh poll was conducted at the said booth.

Notably, re-poll was conducted in 17 out of 18 polling stations spread across Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi districts including Rakso polling station under Palin Assembly Constituency on April 27 last following reports of electoral malpractices and technical glitches in use of EVM and VVPAT machines.

Meanwhile, Capital SP Tumme Amo informed that a group of people gathered at Akashdeep in the morning and attempted to stage dharna, but was not allowed to come near the Nirvachan Bhawan here.

“Since the district administration had already declared the dharna illegal, the police team didn’t allow them to hold dharna. Later, on our persuasion they withdrew their agitation and met the ECI team from Delhi. After meeting with the ECI team they left from the venue at 6.30 pm expressing hope for justice,” the SP said.
