NFR promoting cleanliness & environmental sustainability through Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2024

MALIGAON, Oct 1: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) officials are actively taking part in the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2024 campaign, a movement focused on promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability. This initiative started from 16th September and will last till 2nd October, which marks the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission and culminates on Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October, as a tribute to the Father of the Nation.

The SHS theme for this year, ‘Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskaar Swachhata’ seeks to emphasize the role of individual responsibility and collective action in maintaining cleanliness across the country. The campaign has been launched to sensitize people about observing of proper hygiene, encourage desisting from open defecation and keeping the stations and railway tracks clean.

From the first day, various activities were organized at railway colonies, work places and station premises to spread awareness among railway employees, their family members and passengers.

NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava and GM (Construction) Arun Kumar Chaudhary led other senior officers during a plantation drive at Maligaon, under the initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ as part of the SHS campaign.

A sale of recycled plastic waste products is organized at Guwahati station promoting the ‘Waste to Art’ concept as an initiative of the campaign. A door-to-door cleanliness awareness and garbage collection drive is conducted across railway colonies of NFR to sensitize people on maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings.
