Dept of H&FW holds Mega Health Mela across State

ITANAGAR, Oct 1: As part of nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva campaign to augment access to essential healthcare services, and with a view to boost public health in Arunachal Pradesh, the Department of Health and Family Welfare today launched a Mega Health Mela across the State, providing free medical check-ups and consultations to people.

In the main event conducted at the IG Park here, the mela aimed to promote health awareness and offer comprehensive medical services, focusing on key health indicators such as blood pressure, blood sugar levels, uric acid, and the early detection of critical illnesses like cancer and diabetes.

The Mela also provided a platform for people to learn about government medical schemes and benefits, including the Integrated Development Services (IDS) beneficiary programs.

Specialized care was also a highlight, with the Department of Child Health from Apollo Hospital extending its services to address pediatric health issues.

Health & Family Welfare Minister Biyuram Wahge, in his address, encouraged everyone to avail of this opportunity to access free healthcare services and become informed about various healthcare schemes aimed at improving overall well-being.

YUPIA: As the nationwide Swachhata hi Seva fortnight inches closer to conclusion on 2nd October, a series of activities were organized across Papum Pare district.

The District Health Society conducted a mega health camp at the Monday Market in Doimukh, as local MLA Nabam Vivek inaugurated the camp, in presence of Papum Pare DC Jiken Bomjen, DMO Dr Rina Ronya and other officers.

Addressing the gathering, the MLA laid emphasis on the importance of healthcare accessibility, particularly for underprivileged sections of society and the people residing in the remote areas.

“Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right and initiatives like these health camps ensure that even marginalized communities receive timely and appropriate medical care,” he said while lauding the DHS and further suggesting for conducting such camps at regular intervals in the remote areas.

MLA Vivek further directed DMO Dr. Rina to constitute a dedicated committee for Kayakalp certification of the Community Health Centers (CHCs).

“Kayakalp certification assesses seven criteria viz Hospital Upkeep, Health Promotion, Sanitation & Hygiene, Support Services, Waste Management, Infection Control and Cleanliness. Striving for the certification will automatically improve the services and working environment,” he further added.

The MLA has been a strong advocate for community health programs and assured support for all other future health initiatives. He also informed that he is closely monitoring the progress of the under construction District Hospital at Doimukh to make it operational as soon as possible.

The services provided during the camp included NCD screening, screening for HIV, Hepatitis, VRRL, complete blood tests, blood test for LFT, KFT, NTCP counselling, CMAAY, ABHA, AB-PMJAY enrolment, homeo clinic, awareness on TB, vaccination etc.

Altogether, 286 benefitted from the camp.

At Kimin, a Swachhata cyclathon was successfully conducted at Kimin ULB. The 5-Km cyclathon witnessed the enthusiastic participation of ITBP personnel and students of Govt Hr Sec School Kimin.

Swachhata walkathons were successfully conducted under Sagalee ULB and at Yupia. The DC led the walkathon from Yupia while ADC Higio Yame led the walk at Sagalee.

Moreover, clean-up efforts were made at Jullang and at CHC Balijan, followed by plantations under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.

LIKABALI: As part of the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ 2024 campaign and joining the rest of the State, Lower Siang District organized a Statewide Mega Health Mela at the Primary Health Centre, Telam under Nari sub-division today, as people in large numbers thronged the centre for health check-up.

Nari Koyu MLA Tojir Kadu inaugurated the health mela, in presence of Lower Siang DC Rujjum Rakshap, SP Gothombu Dajangju, HoOs, Panchayat members, GBs, members of the Woman Welfare Society, and the general public of the area.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA exhorted the gathering about the noble initiative of the state government concerning the health ‘issues’ of people of the State and reiterated that a society cannot progress if its citizens are not healthy enough to shoulder their responsibilities and keep the wheel of development rolling.

He said, “The Health Mela would help educate the people, make them health conscious. The tests and screenings done would help in early diagnosis of ailments and enable patients to go for timely treatment and so, they should come forward and avail of the health facilities provided by the government at their doorstep.”

The DC, in his speech, also appealed to the people to come forward and avail the health facilities brought to their doorstep by the government. He said, “Knowing one’s own health status is of paramount importance to an individual as it facilitates timely treatment.” He apprised that the PHC is under active consideration for proposing to the government as a regular Wellness Centre for which he appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration and the department of Health.

He also requested the MLA to pursue the matter with the govt.

Earlier, District Medical Officer Dr Nyage Geyi termed the camp a noble initiative and devout gift of the welfare government, and urged the people to make best use of the opportunity and turn out in large numbers. 

YINGKIONG: The District Health Society, Upper Siang conducted a Statewide Mega Health Mela at CHC, Mariyang under Swachata Hi Seva Campaign 2024 today.

ADC Mariyang Akan Regon inaugurated the mela, in presence of DMO Upper Siang Dr Gepeng Litin, ZPM Mariyang Bojing Bitin, Programme officers, doctors, medical staff and THE general public

During the camp, people availed free health checkup from Pediatrician, Surgeon, Gynecologist, ENT specialists, Ophthalmologist, Psychiatrist, Dental Surgeon and AYUSH.

Altogether, 266 people benefitted from the health mela. They availed of free medicines, besides undergoing Hepatitis and HIV tests, TB test, screening for oral, breast, cervical cancer, NCD screening and elderly health check-up, blood test, immunization, counselling on drugs, substance abuse, tobacco control and SIT diseases, awareness on National Health programme, IES on Anemia, TB, hypertension, diabetes, maternal health care, free contraceptive distribution.

Awareness on Dulari Kanya, PMJAY, CMAAY and ABHA enrolment was also conducted, and 208 people were registered under ABHA.

AALO: Joining the rest of the districts of Arunachal Pradesh, the Mega Health Mela was organized at the Old Market Parking Lot here in West Siang district.

The event was inaugurated by West Siang DC Mamu Hage, accompanied by the ADC, DMO, HoDs, and prominent public leaders. More than 1467 patients benefitted from the camp.

The mela provided a comprehensive range of healthcare services including blood investigation and free distribution of medicines to those in need.

Similar Health Mela was successfully organized at Kamba also where over 236 needy villagers were benefitted.

PASIGHAT: A Mega Health Mela was held at Mirem village under Bilat circle of Ruksin sub-division in East Siang district today.

Organized by the Department of Health & Family Welfare and supported by the Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association (APDA), the mela was inaugurated by local MLA Ninnong Ering.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA urged the villagers to adopt the concept of Swacchata Hi Seva for promotion of cleanliness, greenery and good health indicators in rural areas.

The mela featured multispecialty services including Eye screening, Oral health, NCD & Hepatitis screening and PMJAY/CMAAY enrollment, Family Welfare services etc.

KHONSA: The Department of Health & Family Welfare (GoAP) successfully organized a Statewide Mega Health Mela at Tirong Aboh Primary Health Centre, Dadam today.

The event was graced by Tirap DC Ira Singhal, in presence of CO Dadam Dr Metung Taku, medical officers and health workers.

A total of 337 patients registered for the Health Mela, where they received treatment of various ailments and free medicines.

Meanwhile, a free health camp was organized by the BJP, Tirap Unit at Khela village and sponsored by Wanglin Lowangdong, Borduria-Bogapani MLA cum Adviser to the Minister of Env & Forest.
