VKV, Balijan to represent Arunachal in N E Zonal level Science Drama Competition at Guwahati on Nov 14

ITANAGAR, Oct 30: The State Level Science Drama Competition 2024 held here today that showcased incredible talent and creativity of Arunachal students saw Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Balijan winning the top honours, followed by VKV Itanagar in second place while Him International School took the third spot.

In individual awards, best actor (male) Phassang Chungma (VKV, Itanagar) was adjudged as best actor (male), Nabam Rinyi (VKV, Balijan) was declared the best actor (female), Bamang Aya of same school ended as best scriptwriter, while the best director award went to Juhi Gupta, also from the same school.

The winning team will represent Arunachal Pradesh at the N E Zonal level Science Drama Competition 2024 to be held at the National Science Centre, Guwahati on November 14 next. The ultimate goal is to participate in the National Science Drama Festival at the National Science Centre, Delhi scheduled from January 5 to 6, 2025.

Organized by the Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology, the competition aimed to promote scientific literacy and critical thinking through the medium of theatre. The event featured a diverse range of performances that explored topics such as climate change, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.

In his inaugural address, P Lombi, Deputy Director (Tech) AP State Council for Science and Technology, emphasized the importance of drama in raising awareness about pressing societal issues. He encouraged students to use their artistic talents to inspire and educate their peers. “Science dramas have the power to ignite young minds and spark a lifelong passion for learning,” he said.

A panel of esteemed judges, including Dr Swapna Acharjee, Radhe Tajung, and Barnali Medhi, rigorously evaluated the performances based on their scientific accuracy, creativity, and overall impact.

The audience was particularly impressed by the winning team’s powerful performances on AI and Society and the global water crisis.

Later, the winners were awarded prizes, mementos, and certificates.
