NNMR Women Wing observes 4th ‘Cwngtum Anv Atur Alo’

ITANAGAR, Oct 30: With an aim to strengthen the roles and responsibilities of the women in indigenous movement, the Nyishi Nyidung Mwngiwng Rallung (NNMR) Women Wing observed the 4th ‘Cwngtum Anv Atur Alo’ (Goddess Blessing Day) in a grand manner at the Nyishi Indigenous Art and Archive cum Cultural Centre, AB-Sector here today.

Gracing the event, Home Minister Mama Natung, in his address, explained about the meaning of Cwngtum Anv and Jory abv.

“We the tribal people are the real protectors and nature lovers who believe in nature, and worship nature,” Natung said. “But now we are losing our culture, tradition and belief in this modern era,” he added.

Acknowledging the indigenous faith movement, Natung, who also holds the portfolio of Indigenous Affairs Department, said, “The movement started by some of our seniors to protect and promote our indigenous tradition and culture is very appreciable.”

Speaking about the negative reaction by some sections of the society, he asked everyone not to be affected by it and to continue with the movement. “One day, those people will realize,” he said.

The Home Minister advised all the movement leaders, including the IFCSAP leaders, to give importance to documentation with written or videography for the younger generation. He assured that the state government is ready to extend all possible help for documentation.

Kamle ZPC Biri Santi also spoke on the occasion. NNMR Women Wing president Yapung Pabing Dolo informed that through this programme, the NNMR wants to educate the womenfolk in the field of promotion of cultural preservation, heritage and unity among communities.

District Program Officer, Papum Pare, Dr Tana Aruna Likha highlighted the role and responsibilities of women in their family as well as in the society.

On the occasion, a book titled ‘Mother Nature’ was released.
