NAMSAI, Nov 29: The waging of war on drugs, apparently, will be bolstered with the induction of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in the District NCORD Committee and more so, with the decision that they will have “equivalent role” as that of the administration, police and other government departments in this direction.
This “development” took place during a monthly NCORD meeting for the month of November held here today under the chairmanship of Namsai Deputy Commissioner C R Khampa, in presence of SP Namsai (convenor) and members of the committee.
Apart from the CBOs, the Women Welfare Society Namsai also attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed in detail various issues related to drug abuse and other substance abuse such as tobacco.
The committee “unanimously” decided that the CBOs will take “equal measures” along with the administration, police and other government departments to fight against drugs and substance abuse. Among other points, the committee including the CBOs also agreed towards making their villages drug free ones in coming days.
With onboarding of CBOs in the committee, the district administration and police along with other enforcement agencies stand furthermore committed in their war against drugs. (DIPRO)
