ZIRO, Jan 10: A demonstration cum hands-on training on pruning for the new kiwi growers of Ziro was conducted here today by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lower Subansiri.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr Hage Munth, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, highlighting its objective to provide need based training to the farmers and farm women of Lower Subansiri district.
During the technical session, training on organic kiwi cultivation, pest and disease management in kiwi was imparted by Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) Mihin Noomphy.
Gracing the programme, Gyati Loder, a progressive farmer and chairman of Subansiri Organic Kiwi, Cardamom, Farmer Producer Company Limited, shared his 21 years experience on kiwi cultivation and gave various valuable tips regarding kiwi plantation.
He also gave hands-on training and pruning advice in kiwi to the farmers and farm women. Later, an interaction session was conducted between the farmers, the progressive farmer and the scientist.
