LIKABALI, Feb 3: As part of nationwide drive and a six-week-long celebration commemorating the completion of 10 years of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD), Lower Siang in collaboration with the district administration and departments of Health and Education conducted an awareness campaign on ‘Childline-1098, WHL-181, and menstrual health’ at the premises of Poi Vidya Niketan Likabali, with a slew of activities marking the campaign.
On the occasion, graced by Lower Siang Deputy Commissioner Rujjum Rakshap and SP Gothambo Danjangju along with other departmental heads, sanitary pads were distributed to the girl children.
A large number of saplings were also planted under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao with the assistance of the Forest department.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC extended good wishes to the students for their upcoming examinations and also encouraged them, particularly the girl students, to excel in their academic pursuits. He further appealed to the children to make their mark in every field and contribute to nation building with equal participation.
Moreover, the DC promised to provide an RO water purifier for the school.
The nationwide campaign, launched in Lower Siang district on January 22, will be wrapped up on March 8 next. (DIPRO)
