Mental health workshop organized at NERIST, TRIHMS

Nirjuli, Feb 3: A mental health awareness workshop was successfully organized by AMTRON at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) here and Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun on Monday.

The workshop aimed to shed light on the importance of mental well-being and showcased an innovative AI-driven mental health self-assessment tool developed by INFIHEAL, a startup promoted by AMTRON and the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), Govt of India.

The morning session at NERIST was presided over by Prof Nabam Teyi from the Mechanical Engineering Department. INFIHEAL’s CEO Srishti Srivastava, along with psychologist Nidhi Sehwag, interacted with students, emphasizing how artificial intelligence can assist in early detection and management of mental health concerns. The students actively participated in discussions and engaged with the AI tool, showing keen interest in its applications.

In the evening session at TRHIMS, the workshop witnessed the presence of Dr Tame Kena, Head of the Psychiatry Department, alongside Dr Misso, Dr Rajon, and Dr Tilling. TRHIMS Director Dr Moji Jini also attended the event and briefly interacted with the participants. Medical students and faculty members showed enthusiasm for integrating AI-based technology into mental health assessment and treatment.

The workshop provided a platform for students and medical professionals to explore the future of AI in mental healthcare. With increasing awareness about mental health issues, such initiatives are expected to encourage more innovative solutions in the field.
