Nirjuli CC pound AYWCC by 103 runs

ITANAGAR, Feb 4: In a dominating show, Nirjuli Cricket Club pounded Anne Yaja Wai Cricket Club (AYWCC) by 103 runs in a match here today, as part of the ongoing Donyi Polo T-20 Running Trophy.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Nirjuli team put on board an imposing total of 200 runs in 20 overs.

Amarjit Sharma led the charge for Nirjuli with a brilliant 53 runs off 29 balls, showcasing aggressive batting. He was well-supported by Akhilesh Sahani, who scored a solid 41 off 32 balls. The pair provided the team a strong foundation, and despite losing 7 wickets, they managed to gather an impressive total. The AYWCC bowlers fought hard, with Tatung Arun and Lobsang each claiming 2 wickets.

In reply, AYWCC's chase faltered from the start, with their batsmen struggling to build partnerships. Shubham Kumar was the top scorer with 26 runs off 44 balls, while Rime contributed 15 runs in 13 balls. However, AYWCC were restricted to a mere 97 runs, losing 9 wickets in the process.

The standout performer for Nirjuli was Amarjit, who not only top-scored with the bat but also made an impact with the ball. He produced a match-winning spell, taking 5 wickets for just 10 runs in 4 overs, including one maiden. Yorjum Sera supported him well, claiming 2 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs.
