Kamba, Nov 10: As part of the nationwide celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India, a ‘Walk for Unity’ was organised on Sunday at Kamba in West Siang district. The event was held under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, and the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) initiative, which is observing a series of activities from October 10 to November 30 across the country.
The West Siang District Administration, under the supervision of ADC Kamba, Tamo Riba, organised a 13-km Pada Yatra from Kamba General Ground to Keak GUPS Ground. The walk witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 500 individuals, including senior citizens, government officials, public leaders, NSS and NCC cadets of Govt Hr Sec School Kamba, and students from DPGC Kamki and DEIT Kamki.
While welcoming the participants, ADC Tamo Riba encouraged everyone to take part wholeheartedly in the national event promoting unity and integrity of India. The program was sponsored by the Department of IT & Communication, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, and graced by Chairman Nyamar Karbak, along with senior public leaders of the district.
Along the route, participants were warmly received with traditional Ponu, cultural displays, and refreshments at Dego Kamki, Peri, and Gemo Tali villages, before concluding at Keak Govt Upper Primary School ground. The event carried a strong message of ‘Unity in Diversity’, promoting the use of Indian products, support for local artisans, weavers, and farmers, and an appeal to maintain clean and hygienic surroundings.
Participants also took a pledge to uphold the unity and integrity of India, to follow the law, and to avoid discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, creed, region, or gender. The event concluded peacefully with the distribution of prizes, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
