3 women among 4 drug peddlers held with over 62 gram heroin

ITANAGAR, Aug 8: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against illicit drug trade, the Arunachal Pradesh Police has arrested four individuals, including three women, who were allegedly involved in drug trafficking. The police also seized heroin weighing approximately 62.1 gram from their possession, a senior police officer said on Thursday.

Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo said that acting on a tip-off received on Wednesday, a police team comprising officer-in-charge of Naharlagun PS Inspector Krishnendu Dev, SI Vivek Linggi, and others launched a swift operation. The team intercepted a hired auto near Borum Bridge in Naharlagun and apprehended the three women identified as Taba Kuku (22), Gollo Kuku (22), and Nani Anu (24) – all residents of Naharlagun.

Upon questioning, the women revealed that they had concealed heroin inside the auto. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 11 plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing 14.4 grams.

Further investigation revealed that the women had procured the drugs from a supplier named Nurul Amin (31), a resident of Lakhimpur, Assam, currently residing in Borum, Naharlagun. Acting swiftly, the police team raided Nurul Amin's residence at Borum, where they recovered 47.7 grams of heroin. Amin was promptly arrested.

Subsequently, a case under the relevant section of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 has been registered against them at Naharlagun Police Station, the SP said.
