KOLORIANG, Aug 29: The Kurung Kumey district administration under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav has launched the Project Digi Kaksha, an integrated learning center that aims to address the challenges that have plagued the district’s education system, including poor foundational literacy and numeracy skills, high dropout rates, teacher absenteeism, and infrastructural deficits.
The initiative comes in the wake of poor CBSE results for 2024 where the district recorded a pass percentage of just 22.4%. Recognizing the urgent need for a change, Project Digi Kaksha was conceptualized to motivate teachers to adopt modern, activity-based teaching methodologies and to provide students with access to the latest technological resources.
The project, which is based on the BALA (Building as Learning Aid) model, features a state-of-the-art, colorful learning environment designed to inspire both teachers and students. The involvement of local MLA Pani Taram, alongside contributions from various officers, has given the project a unique social dimension, fostering a sense of collective ownership and responsibility.
The initiative’s courses and content have been carefully curated to offer students a creative, engaging learning experience, moving away from traditional rote learning methods.
As a pilot project, Digi Kaksha is intended to serve as a model for similar initiatives in other circles, with a focus on creating model schools of learning.
This pioneering project marks a significant milestone in the educational development of Kurung Kumey and the state of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in the remote border areas, setting a new benchmark for holistic digital learning for the overall development of students.
