Itanagar, Sep 30: The officers and staff of the Directorate of Public Libraries today accorded a warm farewell to three long-serving staff members – the Director of Public Libraries, Gaga Taggu Jini, a dedicated library attendant, Suresh Prasad Thakur, and a loyal driver, Suraj Deo Rai – who retired on attaining superannuation.
The ceremony held at the State Central Library here was marked by speeches from colleagues and staff, highlighting their decades of dedicated service.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Secretary Cultural Affairs Tai Kaye and upcoming Director of Public Libraries Y R Ete.
Jini had joined the Govt service on October 6, 1987 as District Librarian and served in the same capacity in various places including Ziro, Itanagar, Tezu, Tawang, and Aalo before being promoted to the positions of Assistant Director, and Deputy Director in 2008 and 2018 respectively.
She took over the charge of Director of Public Libraries on June 27 this year, and retired on Monday, Sept 30, after completing a total service length of 36 years, 11 months and 24 days.
The library attendant Thakur joined the service on April 1, 1987, and the driver Rai on March 13, 1987.
The retirees were presented with mementoes and gifts as a token of appreciation and love for them.
