ITANAGAR, Oct 16: Dera Natung Govt College (DNGC) organized an extramural lecture on ‘Role and Functions of Diplomats’ at the conference hall of the college here this afternoon.
The extramural lecture was delivered by Arun Kumar Sahu, Additional Secretary (Central Europe), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India.
In his deliberation, Sahu elaborating fast changing trends in the world impacted by advancement in information and communication technology said that we have Artificial Intelligence, Robot Technology, and Nano Technology. He exhorted the students to use the internet and various social media judiciously as especially the younger generation is often found wasting much time on social media even though it hardly yields any fruit to them. It’s a sheer wastage of time and not at all productive, he said and urged the students to focus on value of time, education, skill and knowledge.
The resource person, who also replied to several questions asked by students enthusiastically, said: “Diplomats have multi-dimensional roles and functions such as economic, social, scientific, indigenous, cultural, diplomatic, political etc.”
RGU Vice Chancellor Prof S K Nayak graced the occasion as chief guest, and Prof Nabam Naka Hina, HoD Political Science (RGU) as special guest.
DNGC Principal Dr M Q Khan expressed happiness over the “huge” success of the event.
A large number of students including NSS volunteers and a host of faculty members attended the programme, coordinated by Bar Yakar, Asstt Professor of Political Science.
