Papum Pare takes review of its Dist Environment Plan

YUPIA, Nov 8: The District Environment Plan (DEP) for Papum Pare was reviewed during the District Environment Management Committee meeting held on Friday here at the DC’s conference hall.

During the meeting, the DEP for Papum Pare prepared in 2023 as per the guidelines issued by Arunachal Pradesh Pollution Control Board was reviewed for gap analysis and actions taken by the concerned department.

The progress of implementation of solid waste management and plastic waste management in urban and rural local bodies, biomedical waste management, air and water quality management, industrial waste management etc were elaborately discussed.

Addressing the members, the DC-cum-Chairperson DEP Jiken Bomjen called for efforts from all stakeholders to effectively implement the DEP in the district.

EAC-cum-member secretary DEP Dr Dana Unna delivered a detailed address on the environment development plan, aimed at fostering sustainable development and promoting environmental stewardship within the district.

“The plan, which aligns with national and international environmental goals, seeks to enhance the quality of life for residents by prioritizing clean energy, waste reduction, and green infrastructure.” She added.

She further asked the members to submit the action taken reports of the DEP which was prepared in 2023 and had set targets for each department.

Responding to queries related to e-waste management, representative of Arunachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board Danyi Mobing said: “E -Waste is also hazardous and needs proper disposal” while requesting all the members to dispose of the e-waste through proper vendors.

SDO Tame Yajum, executive engineers of PHED, DUDA, WRD, Dy Director Industries and DMO Dr Reena Ronya also attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
