ITANAGAR, Feb 2: Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta along with APSSB Chairperson Padmini Singla, Commissioner Health Pawan Kumar Sain, and Lower Dibang Valley DC Soumya Saurabh visited the RIWATCH on Saturday.
During his visit to the RIWATCH Museum, the CS appreciated the efforts of RIWATCH to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh in particular and Northeast in general.
He also visited the RIWATCH Centre for Mother Languages (RCML) and the Arogya – A Panchakarma Therapy Centre. He was highly appreciative about the development of pictorial glossaries, supplementary reading books, and publication of folktales and folksongs from various tribal communities.
The CS lauded outreach programs of RIWATCH like ‘Guru Shishya Parampara’ being held at Roing and Koronu village, involving eight Shishyas (Tamros) and two Master Trainers (Igus) every year. A five year project is jointly operated by the IMCLS and RIWATCH, and fully supported by the International Centre for Cultural Studies (ICCS), a parent organisation of RIWATCH.
Dr Ista Pulu, a member of Governing Council apprised about the RIWATCH activities, research projects, publications, fellowships and its collaborative academic programs with prestigious universities and institutions both within India and abroad.
Later, a documentary ‘Sacred Beginnings’- a birth ritual among Idu-Mishmis – was screened.
The CS expressed confidence that the institution’s ongoing initiatives will significantly contribute to safeguarding the rich heritage of Arunachal Pradesh while fostering academic programs and research collaborations at a global level.
Moreover, assuring continued support, the dignitaries encouraged RIWATCH to expand its outreach and deepen its impact.
