BASAR, Feb 4: A meeting of the monthly Narco Coordination (NCORD) committee was chaired by Leparada Deputy Commissioner Atul Tayeng at the DC’s conference hall here today. The meeting focused on assessing ongoing initiatives and enhancing collaborative endeavours to combat the menace of drugs in the district.
Identifying that the young students are the most vulnerable section of the society to this dreaded menace, the DC instructed DDSE Leparada to organize mass awareness programs in all schools and emphasizing the importance of proactive engagement, he further advocated that through respective school faculties, a list of susceptible and suspected cases in each school of the district may be prepared so that necessary awareness, counselling and treatment can be extended at the earliest possible.
Dr Thuptan Jambey, SP Leparada-cum-Convenor District level NCORD Committee, provided an overview of cases under NDPS in Leparada district and other initiatives taken by the District Police force to combat the menace of drugs (trafficking and abuse) in the district.
The NCORD committee members further discussed strategies to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district gathering and sharing of information on narcotics trafficking routes, hotspots, and suspects in the district. Explored ways to strengthen treatment and rehabilitation services, including counselling, detoxification, and aftercare programs, they said. (DIPRO)
