NAMSAI, Feb 11: The Arunachal University of Studies (AUS) hosted its 9th convocation ceremony at its Namsai premises today, with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein presiding over the session that witnessed the presence of 747 graduating students (out of over 1800), including 18 PhDs and 53 gold medallists.
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, Mein mentioned the transformative role of higher education in shaping the State’s future. He reflected on the university’s growth since its humble beginning in 2012 and praised its advanced infrastructure and diverse course offerings.
He commended AUS for its remarkable contributions to academic excellence, research, and community development. “What started as a humble institution has now become a beacon of education, boasting a dedicated faculty and a growing reputation for fostering young talent,” he remarked. He acknowledged the university’s role in nurturing young minds while contributing to the local economy by generating employment and supporting community growth.
The Dy CM encouraged graduating students to apply their knowledge and skills for the betterment of society and development of the State.
While sharing his vision for transforming Namsai into an educational hub with the planned establishment of a medical college and a fisheries college, Mein expressed optimism about the region’s growth as a center for learning. Speaking on key challenges such as climate change and drug abuse, he highlighted the responsibility of educated youth in spearheading “solutions” through innovative thinking and sustainable development initiatives. He encouraged the graduating student to stay rooted to their culture while striving for excellence in their professional endeavours.
Local MLA Zingnu Namchoom commended the graduating students and lauded AUS for its commitment to academic excellence. He urged students to continue their journey of learning and innovation.
AUS Chancellor Kamal Lochan congratulated the students, emphasizing their role as ambassadors of knowledge and encouraging them to make meaningful contributions to the State, nation, and beyond.
World Education Mission president Dr Ashwani Lochan reflected on the university’s progress and contributions to education. He underscored the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and ethical leadership in today’s evolving world.
